Gerdine Duijsens

Her love for art has always been there, but her artistic base was mainly formed at the Artibus Academy and the Academy of Fine Arts in Arendonk, Belgium. Since 1998 she has devoted herself professionally to painting.

Abstract or figurative, the recognisability of her handwriting is undeniable. In her paintings and serigraphs you detect a clear pride and a (often humorous) joie de vivre. The use of materials finds its way mainly in acrylic paint, but also in oil paint, charcoal, chalk and ink.

In the figurative work, Gerdine's style is fast and impressionistic in nature. Human interaction is a clear source of inspiration. The conversation with the viewer begins when we recognize ourselves in her greedy gaze at caricatures.
