Biography

Hengki Pudjianto is geboren in 1967 in Surabaya, Indonesië. Tegenwoordig woont en werkt hij in Ubud.

Although his style is contemporary through abstraction, Pudjianto feels a great affinity for the traditional Zen and Chinese Chan Buddhist painting techniques. For him, painting is a kind of meditation where the artist's energy can only flow when the mind is calm.

His colors are mainly many shades of gray, brown and beige. You could call it earthy, but in its context they reinforce a certain stillness that is mainly reminiscent of air. For him, color is nothing more than a means of expressing his inner energy.

Pudjianto lived in Europe for a while. The knowledge that Hengki has acquired during his stay in Europe has been essential in his development as an artist.

He was touched by the diversity of the work of a number of European painters. Gustav Klimt's use of color and Basquiat's unconditional and radical commitment to art.

Through the sensitivity of Paul Klee's minimalism, he came closest to himself. After several periods and techniques, he further developed his style into what it is today.
