After working in IT for a few years, Jeroen Luijt decided to pursue his passion: photography. He started working at Gallery Color and enrolled at the Photo Academy.
At the academy, Jeroen soon found himself in the discipline he has remained loyal to ever since: still life.
In his work, Jeroen sticks to two forms; the abstract minimalist still life and the classic still life. His broad interest in painting and in particular the Old Dutch Masters inspire him to create his work. And it's not just about the style, but also about the content. The work must carry a certain symbolism.
Making a still life, including abstract work, takes a lot of time. In addition to the concept and all the preparations, taking the photo can be a long process. And then comes the phase of post-processing the images. Taking a photo can therefore sometimes take more than a week.
The fact that Jeroen made the right choice at the time, from IT to Photography, is evident from the fact that his work has been awarded several times. He achieved third place and an honorable mention in the still life category at the International Photography Awards and his work was included in the book 100 Emerging Dutch Talents.
He was also nominated for a SO Award in 2015. The latter stands for Selection Of dutch photography and is the photography competition that is about the creative identity of the professional photographer.
