Soontorn died in October 2014 at the age of 38 as a result of a cerebral hemorrhage. A great talent has passed away much too soon.
Soontorn surprises us with its colorful palette. At a young age, the artist shows us his emotions and visions through firm, bold strokes of his brush. He transforms seasons into sights of faded visions. The spirit of the artist is visible in a framework of fascinating colors and hardened fabric. There, where many artists use their palette to mix colors, he paints it directly on the canvas, as it were. This creates a multitude of colours, surfaces and lines in multiple dimensions.
His works have an abstract appearance, but if you look at them longer, landscapes can still be discerned in the interplay of lines and shapes, seen from different perspectives. In this way, Soontorn breaks with the rules of painting: there is no real dimension, measured reality or well-defined subject. Imagination, freedom and colors take over and show an awareness of believable reality to the viewer.
The layers in his work, sometimes five or six layers, invite you as a viewer to almost get into 'the skin of' his canvases to experience its intensity. Each time this gives a different, new experience. An exciting process.
Its vibrant message of color and nature generates universal appeal.
He was educated at Thaivichitsilp Art School (Fine Art)
