Chiel van Zelst, Amsterdam, 1964.

Chiel studied at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam and at the School of Visual Arts in New York. His specialty is the Amsterdam cityscape.

He puts his subject on the canvas with speed and vitality and gives his own twist to this age-old genre. His vibrant style of painting is influenced by the old masters, contemporary street art and graffiti culture, together they form a unique, new style of painting.
