Biography

“If you have a choice between being an artist or pursuing another profession, it is better to choose the latter because a true artist knows in his heart that he really has no choice.”

The many travels that Roderik has made and the people he has met are a lasting source of inspiration for his work as an artist. From childhood he observed the world and the people around him, and at a very young age he became skilled in drawing and painting, but ultimately opted for a business education in the US and Spain. During his studies he continued to paint to further develop his talent, and he made portraits of people and animals. After traveling the world for six years for his work, he decided to give in to his calling and fully concentrate on his painting talent and returned to the Netherlands. He has painted members of the royal family and members of parliament and his clientele now extends from Amsterdam to Geneva and from New York to Madrid. Roderik is known for his realistic portraits, loose brushstrokes and balanced colors. He prefers oil paint, painted on linen or panel.
