Volken de Vlas

Volken de Vlas was born in Dokkum in 1975 and graduated from Academie Minerva in 2000 with a degree in Fine Arts. Since then, he has been working as an independent artist and designer. From his studio, he has spent the past ten years focusing entirely on creating mosaics, using a wide variety of recycled printed materials alongside abstract painted panels made by the artist himself. Volken punches these materials into small tiles, which he then assembles into new autonomous artworks.
